John Anderson

John Richard Anderson, 78, of Galesburg, formerly of Burlington, West Point, and Washington, died at 1:20 am Monday, October 22, 2012, at the Galesburg Cottage Hospital in Galesburg, Illinois.

Born May 15, 1934, in Des Moines County, he was the son of Lawrence Glynn and Rosa Catherine Thele Anderson. He married Marie and they later divorced. 

John had worked as a electronics expert for Rempe Music in Fort Madison for over 30 years.

He was a 1952 graduate of St. Paul's Central High School.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran.

He was a member of SS. John and Paul Catholic Church of Burlington, St. Mary of Assumption of West Point, and St. James of Washington. He enjoyed Bluegrass music and was an avid ham radio operator with call letters of KOBKL. 

Survivors include one daughter, Stephanie Anderson of the Quad Cities; three grandchildren; one brother, Paul Anderson of Burlington; five sisters, Rosemary A. Friedman of Burlington, Catherine Anderson of Fort Madison, IA, Carol Huber of East Moline, IL, Margaret Lowery of Bradenton, FL, and Jane Crawford of Washington, IA, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Leo.

Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Thielen Funeral Home.

The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for Mr. Anderson will be 10:00 am Thursday, October 25, 2012, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Rev. Father Bruce A. DeRammelaere as the Celebrant. Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for SS. John and Paul Catholic Church.
